Summary:The Engineering Internship at SBA Engineering (SBAE) provides an opportunity to learn about the wireless telecommunications industry and be challenged with a meaningful, career-oriented work experience. This internship is an excellent opportunity for an engineering student to gain hands-on experience as you assist in the day-to-day production of tower structural analysis.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Assist SBA engineers with tower and its foundation analysis (SA). This includes basic engineering math using several of our engineering tools, mainly in the Microsoft Excel sheets.Provide support for multiple projects working closely with SBAE and our engineering partners. This may include monitoring and reporting on SA deadlines and deliverables and interacting with internal RSMs and outside engineering partners.Update Engineering tracking system to ensure that SA status is maintained with complete accuracy.Work on the pre-SA assignments such as create folders, scan the tower documents and save them in the right site folders.Reach out to outside tower vendors for missing tower documents and supplemental documents.Participate in the Engineering meetings and follow the instructions carefully.Other projects and duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.College degree seeking student with major in Engineering strongly preferred.Proficient in reading engineering drawings.Prior experience in developing Excel spreadsheets and/or Mathcad worksheets.Experience in creating drawings using AutoCAD.Understanding of 3D FEA Software like ANSYS, ABAQUS.Complete knowledge of structural engineering principles.Language Skills:Bilingual (read, write, and speak) in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume.Reasoning Ability:Ability to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:NonePhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
