Job Description:

Oversees pool activities and maintains pool cleanliness. Ensures the safety of the Club's members and guests that attend the pool and provides a warm welcome. Supervises overall maintenance of the pool.Monitors guests of the pool while they are in the water and ensures they are safe. Prevents injuries by minimizing hazardous situations and behaviors.Enforces all facility rules and regulations.Recognizes and responds effectively in all emergencies.Administers First Aid and/or CPR as necessary in an emergency. When stationed in Lifeguard chair, focus is specifically directed to the water and its users.When stationed in the Lifeguard chair, limited conversation with members & guests is needed to ensure safety is paramount. Professional communication with the staff is needed, and should be brief in nature.Proper use of the radios to communicate with staff is the preferred method of communication while in the Lifeguard chair.Maintains a clean pool as well as pool deck by performing maintenance tasks.Conducts swim lessons (when applicable) and assists in promotion of special events as needed.Sets up and cleans up after Water Aerobics class. Assists with aerobic belts and getting water if needed.Provides customer service to members by opening umbrellas and moving chairs. Provides helpful information to members such as, pool temperature, restaurant hours and Childrens Activity Center hours.Performs all opening and closing procedures, such as testing pool chemicals, maintaining pool chemicals, cleans the deck, secures umbrellas, locks gates and walks/monitors the kiddie pool.Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Lifeguard.Requires good teamwork and customer service skills.Must be able to swim and save someone in need. Must be physically fit, have excellent swimming ability, ability to save an overweight person and hold heavy equipment.Ability to prepare reports.Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Training certification.
