KPC Promise Healthcare: Under the supervision of the
Director/HIM Coder/Coordinator of Health Information Management,
the coder is responsible for the ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
diagnosis and procedure coding and abstracting of inpatient
records. Performs admission and concurrent review of inpatient
records and discharge coding within 3 days of discharge.
Responsible for completion of Physician Queries to obtain optimal
documentation for care provided.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR CREDENTIALED APPLICANT:
1. One - two years Health Information Services coding experience
in an acute care facility, Long Term Acute Care preferred.
2. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered
Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or CCS certification and
must maintain certification renewal in accordance with the
standards of the AHIMA.
3. 3M software and Meditech experience. preferred
4. Understanding of Medicare/DRG
5. Must be able to read, write, and speak English
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

EXPOSURE RISK: Category III - Jobs in which required tasks
involve no greater exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues than
would be encountered by a visitor. The normal work routine involves
no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, MACHINES USED : Computer, copier,
telephone, facsimile machine, calculator, printer, miscellaneous
medical equipment and DME.
CERTIFICATIONS : RHIT or RHIA or CCS
