Material Bank is seeking a Director of Taxonomy & Search
Developer to build and develop an intuitive structure to help
navigate within our comprehensive database.
Key to Material Bank’s success, the Director of Taxonomy &
Search Developer’s role is focused on optimizing our unique and
robust product catalog by enhancing material discovery. This
individual will be an integral part in significantly impacting the
member experience and ultimately driving purchasing decisions. We
are seeking someone who is energized by strategic thinking and
skilled in product categorization to come work on the world’s
largest product catalog focused on the A&D community.
This role requires an effective communicator and team lead to
work alongside the Product Catalog team based in Boca Raton, FL.
This is a small, but mighty, group of data lovers tasked with
processing product information associated with thousands of SKUs on
a weekly basis. We are collaborative, thoughtful, and passionate
about materials, products, and searchability.
What you’ll do
Develop models and structure for taxonomy and data while helping
to define and establish standards for material specification
Collaborate and consult directly with key stakeholders,
technical teams and leadership on solutions for taxonomy and
metadata that will positively impact how materials are
Improve the quality of our member data by refining the tools and
techniques used for data collection from our extensive product
Design and architect new data solutions
Work cross-functionally with our Materials experts, engineers,
research teams, and designers to capture terms, acronyms,
definitions, and all facets for taxonomy.
Ensure that materials are organized to their optimal potential
for seamless searching through the site through data quality
initiatives and process improvement.
Measure program effectiveness and operational excellence through
Contribute to team goal setting and future state vision
What you’ll bring
5+ years relevant work experience, Preferably in E-commerce,
Operations or Technology
Master’s Degree in Library Information Systems or related field
of study preferred
Experience architecting metadata solutions and managing taxonomy
and ontology with a strong understanding of controlled vocabulary
Proven taxonomy design and ability to translate business
requirements into taxonomy specifications for our robust and
powerful product catalog
Experience and knowledge of systems for data collection and
Passion for enhancing the user experience through
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a broad
and diverse team
