The Vice President, Financial Analysis (VP,FA) is a new role
recognizing the past and future growth of the company. The VP,FA
will be responsible for taking a hands-on approach as an individual
contributor to strengthen the financial analysis capabilities at
Unified with a focus on supporting the CFO and the President
Regional Markets and COO with financial analyses serving the needs
of the business / markets.
The VP,FA will be responsible to build complex and flexible
financial models to be used regularly to update market conditions
that include such areas as budgets, market cash forecasts,
affiliated physician compensation, financial statements (P&L’s,
cash flows, balance sheets), operating expense forecasts, business
reviews and ad-hoc requests from the markets.
The candidate will have proven experience of success in working
in a matrixed organization model. The VP,FA will collaborate with
other key positions and functions throughout the company including
operations leadership, accounting, finance, Financial Planning and
Analysis (FP&A), contracting, analytics and business
development. The role reports to Tom Bongiorno, CFO of Unified.
Flexibility on location will be considered based on the
successful candidate’s current place of residence, the opening of
additional Unified regional offices, and travel flexibility.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the VP,FA will
first and foremost be passionate about Unified’s mission. He/she
will be hardworking, demonstrate the values of the company and
build / sustain excellent relationships at multiple levels within
the organization. The successful candidate will be persuasive,
authentic, and transparent and will demonstrate a high level of
professional and personal credibility.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives include:
Analyses that Provide Actionable Insights: Build a process and
models that provide actionable insights in areas such as financial
statements (P&L’s, cash flows, balance sheets), affiliated
physician compensation, and operating expenses. Support the CFO and
President Regional Markets and COO in proactively responding to the
needs of the business / markets by preparing ad-hoc analyses that
help the markets understand why the business is performing as it
is, and provides levers that can be actioned on to take corrective
action or establish contingency plans to ensure that results are
delivered. Employ the use of advanced technology modeling tools
that produce accurate, flexible, and repeatable models.
Forecasts : Build a robust market facing financial and cash-flow
forecast and process that results in output that is accurate,
timely, repeatable, and provides actionable insights for leadership
to use to drive outcomes. Forecasts should provide analysis and
information that support critical operating and strategic decisions
in the context of understanding their financial impact; this
includes early alerts for both opportunities to improve
profitability and problem areas.
Annual Budget : Support the VP, FP&A in building a robust
Annual Budget to provide appropriate financial and operational
targets for the organization, utilizing both “bottoms up” input
from operations leadership, as well as “top down” objectives from
the leadership team. This includes supporting the VP FP&A in
building a toolkit to include appropriate models, templates,
assumptions, inputs, timelines, communications, and output.
“Board Ready” output : Prepare model output presentation
material that is in a form ready to be used at senior levels
including market leadership, the market Clinical Governance Boards,
periodic business reviews, and the Unified Board.
Support Growth : Support the CFO and President Regional Markets
and COO in preparing analyses that are used to analyze growth
opportunities and their impact to business / market growth
including new markets, impacts of provider growth, and de novo
growth opportunities. Support the VP FP&A in the process of a
lookback on completed M&A transactions to compare actual
results to the business case.
Leadership: Participate as a key member of the senior leadership
team, actively involved in analyzing and participating in all major
strategic, operational, and financial decisions.
Hands-in / Sense of Urgency : Demonstrated capacity to make
strong individual contributions as well as lead and manage process
development and execution. Demonstrated sense of urgency in setting
expectations and meeting / exceeding expectations.
Professional Experience Desired :
10+ years strategic finance experience with proven
financial modelling expertise
Bachelor’s degree and MBA in Finance (or other relevant master’s
degree) from a top tier educational institution is required
Professional certifications (ex: Certified Financial Analyst)
are highly desirable
Experience with advanced modelling technology solutions
Possess experience in complex world-class, high performing
companies of size and scope, with the ability to draw upon
best-in-class processes and procedures
Experience in multi-site / multi-state enterprises is
Proven success in effectiveness in working in a matrixed
organization structure required
Direct Healthcare employment or meaningful experience in a role
serving the healthcare industry is highly preferred
