ABOUT THE JOB:

This position provides overall project management and leadership in the achievement of complex projects and departmental business objectives while maintaining a high and consistent level of quality service and customer support and satisfaction. Works collaboratively with Information Technology department and client project team members to ensure a successful implementation outcome.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS POSITION:

Effectively leads projects and their cross divisional/departmental teams (business and IT) through the project life cycle (Vision - Closure) utilizing the Program Management Office process (project methodology) to manage scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources and risks while ensuring successful delivery of project value.

Ensures resources are secured at the project level by working with business and IT managers. Ensures team consists of the appropriate resources with suitable skills that are available at that time. Identifies resource training needs and/or escalates any skill set gaps for resolution. Effectively communicates project status, risks, issues/resolutions to customers and management at all levels. May be called upon to consult on other complex projects or provide project management expertise and oversight on a suite of projects.

Responsible for producing and maintaining quality project management related documents (vision, project charter, gate review presentations, project plan, risk assessments, change requests and status reports). Maintains documents to ensure that they are current, thorough and accurate. Ensures quality and timely project work products are developed by project teams (business requirements, detail design, test cases, implementation and communication plans). Ensures documents are current, thorough and accurate.

Effectively leads and contributes to the health and wellness of the PMO process and department (best practices, improving PMO process). Continues to expand project management skills and business process/system knowledge.

Motivates and coaches PMO, IT and business team members. Provides objective feedback to management regarding staff performance. Perceived as a "go to person" due to depth of project management skills and business knowledge.

While leading projects, identifies interdependencies and cross project synergies resulting in project quality, schedule, budget and resource efficiencies. Identifies potential gaps in and across projects and works with management and project teams to resolve.

WHAT YOU MUST BRING TO THIS POSITION

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of project management experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • In lieu of degree and/or certification, additional relevant work experience required Advanced:
    • Project management skills (proficient with Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge)
    • Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
    • Time management skills
    • Teaming, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    • Budgeting/financial analysis skills (estimating, tracking, forecasting, issue identification)
    • Facilitation skills
    • Communication skills
    • MS Project skills
    • MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A MORE VIABLE CANDIDATE:
      • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
      • Understanding of worker's compensation industry
      • Understanding of NCCI's business processes and systems
