Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Budget Manager- Chemistry & Biochemistry- Boca Raton, FL. Florida Atlantic University seeks individuals to maintain the daily operational and financial functions within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Provide financial management and research administration of all auxiliaries, foundation, federal and non-federal grants. Supervise and implement the University, College and Department policies and procedures as it applies to the financial function of the department. Works closely with Chair, Faculty, Dean's office, and Division of Research in preparation of research grant submissions.+ Responsible for financial management of all department state funding, grants, endowments, and foundation accounts.+ Work closely with Chair, Faculty, and Division of Research in preparation of grant submissions including management reporting.+ Perform budget management daily tasks of monitoring department performance against spending patterns and implementing measures to adherence to department annual budget.+ Responsible for assisting Principal Investigators in preparing and submitting grant proposals for Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry.+ Assist faculty in the development and submission of federal, state, and private grant applications.+ Assist faculty with grant proposals, develop budgets, budget justifications, etc. Prepare grant budget projections and all required forms and attachments for proposal submission in the appropriate system. Submit proposal documents in Novelution and external grant submission systems for review by Sponsored Programs. Track completion of all documents required for grant submission.+ Manage post-award grant activities. Communicate regularly with principal investigators. Create Workday personnel payroll and expenditure transactions required for research projects. Analyze financial reports. Review and reconcile project expenditures. Certify time and effort. Prepare adjustments and corrections to award budgets. Process cost transfers and payroll adjustments necessary.+ Meet with faculty and staff to communicate accounting concepts of allowable and unallowable cost related to spending, maintaining compliance and meeting budget deadlines.+ Provide principal investigators with financial reports and detail of expenditures regularly.+ Perform HR functions to hire new OPS students, adjuncts, s, and faculty.+ Make effective use of undergraduate student employees to meet immediate and future needs for the department.+ Prepare and submit to Graduate College graduate student teaching assistantships each semester.+ Prepare and submit graduate student tuition waivers each semester.+ Create purchase requisitions and blanket purchase orders for direct invoice posting of recurring department orders.+ Process department travel requests for students & faculty.+ Collaborate with controller's office, foundation, research accounting, and purchasing regarding payments and purchasing of supplies needed to operate department.+ Assist with Chemistry faculty and students with administrative services on Jupiter.+ Process and maintain fulfillment of department Continuing Education Courses.+ Prepare and submit American Chemical Society ACS annual report for department certification.+ Prepare and submit department FAR Faculty Activity report.+ Conduct monthly meetings with Senior Lab Administrator related to purchasing, invoicing and compliance of laboratory safety, including ensuring all reagents and supplies are available for all teaching and research labs.+ Work closely with department Instrumentation Specialist in providing effective solutions and support for purchasing department instruments/equipment, including maintenance and repairs as needed.+ Present budgets to department chair as requested.+ Ensure department goals and objectives are being met by each employee by providing feedback and supervision of job performance.+ Engage in additional activities and projects as assigned by the Chair and Associate Chair throughout the year.FAU Benefits and PerksIf Benefits & Perks are important to you, then FAU is the place to be! Must be capable of setting work priorities and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while meeting deadlines. Strong analytical skills preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
