OverviewRES is currently accepting applications for Director of Scientific Affairs based in Delray Beach or Boca Raton, Florida locations. Remote work/location is possible under the right circumstances.The mission: RES is launching a new venture to extend its core environmental project implementation skillset into carbon by investing, financing, and developing carbon projects for US/Canada with the potential to expand globally as the effort expands.We are looking for a SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT to give expert scientific guidance on carbon or GHG projects that RES is currently investing/building. This can be in the form of analyzing carbon credit project plans, feasibility studies and project design documents to ascertain scientific risks of generating credits and the ecological value of any projects. A DEPENDABLE work ethic in developing carbon project plans, deciding on optimal methods of carbon sequestration or abatement, facilitating credit registration processes, and forecasting projected carbon credit yield. Is COOPERATIVE in working alongside peers formulating long-term views on the carbon industry and deciding which projects will offer the greatest carbon reduction leading to broader business strategy. As the platform grows, so too will the scientific affairs role expand by including more talent and expertise from potential peers and venturing into new areas such as forestry, wetlands, composting etc. What your day-to-day might look like?WHAT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE:50% of your time, you will be providing scientific guidance and counseling to other peers, internal or external, for the carbon projects that are being developed. These projects can include analysis of carbon credit project plans, feasibility studies, assessing scientific risks of generating credits and the ecological value of said projects. 40% of your time, you will be performing tasks related to developing carbon project plans, selecting optimal methods and procedures for carbon sequestration or abatement, furthering the credit registration process, predicting potential credits available based on applicable carbon registry or compliance protocols and executing a plan of action to collect predicted credits.10% of your time, you will be developing your skills further through personal development and collaborating with peers to expand the carbon industry platform here at RES. This can include researching evolving carbon sequestration techniques or technologies, identifying which method yields greatest carbon reduction between different areas such as forestry, wetlands etc., and expanding the scientific affairs team with potential new talent.QualificationsWe would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Bachelors degree or more related to Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Agriculture Science or similar field of science. -
    • 10+ years of post-undergraduate experience in climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG emissions including carbon dioxide -
      • Familiarity with the evolving carbon and GHG science, with a focus on nature-based solutions (forestry, wetlands, seagrass, etc.) but some familiarity with other industrial based solutions such as direct air capture -
        • Ability to distill complex scientific analysis into cogent and concise business recommendations - -Who is RES: -We are the nations largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions.
