Job Description:
Scion Executive Search ( www.scionexecutivesearch.com ) has been
retained to conduct the search for a Vice President of Development
for our client, the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation. The Pulte
Family Charitable Foundation (PFCF) is a faith-based organization
guided by the belief in the inherent dignity of all persons. They
work to meet the basic human needs of the most marginalized members
of the human family. PFCF supports nonprofits and Judeo-Christian
religious organizations by providing funding to solve problems
impacting disadvantaged and underserved communities across the
globe. This exciting full-time position is in-person at PFCF's
office located in Boca Raton, FL , and this position will
frequently travel to meet with community partners, governmental
agencies, and other organizations as necessary. The Pulte Family
Charitable Foundation's Strategic Initiatives: Reporting to the
President, the Vice President of Development will be responsible
for planning and overseeing the PFCF's fundraising efforts to
secure new revenue for the PFCF's "long game" strategic
initiatives. "These initiatives include building projects in
Florida that will be transformational to the Foundation's clients.
One of these projects will be The IDDeal Home, housing for young
adults with mild to moderate Intellectual and Developmental
Disabilities (IDD) in the South Florida area. The second will be
Nuestra Senora de la Vivienda (Our Lady of the Home), a small- to
mid-size affordable housing community in the migrant community of
Immokalee, FL. PFCF is set to partially fund both vital projects.
These initiatives are based on the following sentiment from PFCF:
"Charity alleviates suffering; changing systems unlocks opportunity
and builds capabilities. One is a short game: delivering sustenance
today. The other is the long game: offering hope and the
opportunity to build a promising future." Key Responsibilities:
Effectively manage the Foundation's development activities.
Identify, cultivate, and solicit funds with individuals, public,
private, and corporate foundations, and governmental agencies
sharing the same philanthropic interests as PFCF. Establish,
develop, and maintain significant long-term relationships with
benefactors whose resources are integral to supporting the mission
of PFCF and their strategic initiatives. Serve as a guide for
individuals providing assets and other tax donations. Establish
performance metrics and analyze results to evaluate the efficacy of
the Foundation's development activities. Prepare progress reports
for Executive Board meetings, and occasionally present findings to
the Board. Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all
regulations and laws. Follow the Code of Ethical Standards
established by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Thrive
working in the Foundation's family-directed environment and
partnering closely with the organization's principles. Travel
frequently to meet with benefactors and community partners.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree
preferred. 5+ years of nonprofit development experience at the
Director level or above. Proven track record of closing complex
fund agreements, cultivating benefactors, and soliciting
significant gifts. Superb oral and written communication skills.
Comfortable and effective in working with high-net-worth
individuals on a regular basis. Demonstrated success in building
networks of individuals and fostering rapport with leadership. Deep
commitment to PFCF's mission and core values. Excellent critical
thinking and listening skills, including the ability to ask
relevant questions at the right time. Proven ability to set
priorities and map out multi-faceted goals and strategies.
Forward-thinking individual with robust organizational, time
management, and prioritization skills with an outcomes-oriented,
creative work style. Strong familiarity with managing complex
projects and initiatives. Great sense of humor and down-to-earth
approach. Tremendous personal integrity and keen optimism for
PFCF's work. Ability to inspire passion for the Foundation's
special projects. Capability to learn relevant tax and estate laws
as well as planned giving procedures. Proficiency in MS Office.
English fluency required; Spanish fluency preferred. Ability to
travel to meet with benefactors and community partners. Benefits:
In addition to a competitive base salary, the Pulte Family
Foundation offers an extensive benefits package towards its
full-time employees, including $500/month towards the employee's
medical benefits, regardless of the plan or coverage (Employee
only, Family, Employee and Spouse, Employee and Children). On the
date of hire, the organization also provides additional funds to
assist with dental and vision costs. Full-time employees are also
privy to participating in the organization's 401K plan and receive
Paid Time Off which accrues with tenure. All full-time employees
