The Director, Advanced Analytics is responsible for the creation of insight driven Machine Learning or AI strategies that improve Sales / Margin and improve customer retention. The Director will be leading highly skilled associates and responsible for providing leadership and direction to the team delivering team agenda, delivery timelines for generating Predictive and Prescriptive analysis supporting multiple initiatives from Marketing, Merchandising, E-Comm, with the goal of profitably growing Office Depot's retail and direct businesses while also growing the Office Depot brand. This position must be a team player with the ability to contribute strategically, build and maintain strong cross-functional working relationships and adapt to the ever-changing processes and schedules that the retail business requires. The Director is also charged with professional development of the team through mentorship and supporting the attainment of individual goals and objectives for the year.----Highly accomplished, techno-functional professional who challenges existing processes and establish new, innovative, and effective Machine Learning and AI algorithms by leveraging internal resources and external agency partners and taking Advanced Analytics to next level. Experience in working across organizations to drive appropriate business/IT solutions. Adept in working with business stakeholders, management, technical teams, and vendors to analyze needs, define requirements, evaluate risks, and manage execution of project initiatives. Provide leadership and framework to ensure on-time and within budget solution delivery. Natural communicator and team leader with strong motivational skills and ability to build and manage successful teams.Primary Responsibility:---Leading highly skilled associates and responsible for providing leadership and direction to the team delivering team agenda, delivery timelines for generating Predictive and Prescriptive analysis supporting multiple initiatives from Marketing, Merchandising, E-Comm, to improve sales/revenue, improve Acquisition and Retention.---Ability to make things happen and drive the implementation of strategic plans to execution using data and latest technology. Proven ability to build effective groups to attract and develop highly motivated and successful subordinates.---Drive cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers and stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships. Ability to stand by decisions and move forward with courage.---Experience in applying Deep Learning to time series analysis (inc. ARIMA / ARMA). Excellent understanding on building analytical infrastructure on open source platform on cloud environments i.e. AWS & Azure. Experience building scalable development and deployment environments where Python and R code can run in scalable environments.Strong understanding of experimental test-and-learn design concepts and applications (a strong plus).---Excellent Analytical skillsStrong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy using descriptive and predictive analytics that optimize statistical efficiency and quality---Ability to simplify, present, and communicate complex analytics results and concepts to leadershipEducation & Experience:---Masters, Certification in Data Science statistical analysis, computational sciences, mathematics, physics, econometrics or equivalent work experience 10+---Demonstrated experience designing and using analytics to make fact based decisions.---Proven ability to build effective groups to attract and develop highly motivated and successful subordinates.---Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation and interpersonal communications skills. Experienced at translating technical theory into business impact terms.---Demonstrated Ability to stand by decisions and move forward with courage.---Manage numerous major and minor predictive and analytical model initiatives from initiation to closing.---Works with business units across Office depot on special projects relating to formulating data driven solutions and analyzing core data involving business activity---Ability to multitask and to balance competing priorities.---Highly analytical, quantitative presentation skills and excellent strategic thinking and leadership skills are required---Mathematics, Business Insights, Statistical Modeling---SQL, R, Python, Deep Learning, NoSQL technologies, Hadoop, Anaconda, Tableau, Excel, Analysis, Database Concepts, Infrastructure---Lead a team of associates and responsible for the team's agenda and work streams ranging from deep predictive and Prescriptive analysis---Strong Leadership skills to motivate and lead highly Technical resources providing guidance, Challenge existing processes and establish new and innovative methods that drive sales / revenue---Strong understanding of Retail Business knowledge---Experience implementing a Recommendation Engine (knowledgeable on collaborative filtering and content-based filtering) and working on Web Analytics.---Extensive background in statistical analysis, computational sciences, mathematics, physics, or econometrics.---Selecting analytics tools to manage model lifecycle across groups and be experienced in open source tools like Python, R, Tensorflow, keras (Deep learning libraries), Databricks, H2O, etc.---Setting up Information Lifecycle management framework and work with teams to implement it.---Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy---Strong understanding of experimental and test-and-learn design concepts and application.---Experience with analyzing big data sets using Hadoop, Spark and open source technologies---Experience working with third party data providers like DNB, Acxiom, Info group to utilize firmographic, psychographic and demographic data---Vision - Have a clear purpose and be able to communicate your vision to others.---Decision-Making - Make decisions with conviction and display confidence in the process. Take ownership and follow through implementation.---Accountability - Ensure all team members are clear on their job accountability and meet or exceed departmental and personal goals.---Availability - Ensure availability to provide assistance, coaching and decision making when requested or required by team members.---Problem-solving and planning - Play a key role in problem solving activities and make sure to involve the right people in the planning and problem solving process.
