is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable College Counselor to
guide students through the college admissions process. As our
school continues to grow, we remain committed to our high standards
and to providing individual care to each student. We are looking to
add a dedicated College Counselor to our existing college
counseling team. The College Counselor will create a supportive
environment that empowers students to explore their academic and
career interests, set goals, and make informed decisions regarding
their higher education. Scheck Hillel is a nationally recognized
college preparatory and Jewish community school located in North
Miami Beach, Florida. Our well-rounded, rigorous, dual curriculum
program serves over 1,300 students in PKT through 12th grade. As a

in the guidance to students. The role involves promoting peace by
helping students navigate the college application process with
confidence and clarity, while also nurturing their spirit by
encouraging personal growth and exploration of their passions. Key
Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions
to students on college choices and the admissions process for a
dedicated caseload of students and their families. Assist students
in developing application materials such as personal statements,
supplemental essays and resumes. Conduct workshops on college
readiness and financial aid opportunities and maintain up-to-date
knowledge of college admissions trends and resources. Support
school counselors with early college advising in 9th and 10th
grades Collaborate with faculty, parents, and community
organizations essential to support students' readiness for higher
education. Prepare and send monthly communications to families.
Collaborate with operations staff and marketing team to support
development/execution of college programming and related
student/family communications Organizing college fairs, campus
visits, and informational sessions with admissions representatives
will also be a part of this role. Collect and analyze data on
college admissions outcomes and student progress and create
strategies to support diverse learners in their college pursuits.
Teach a College Readiness class to support students in developing
college wishlists, essays, and financial aid awareness. Submit
transcripts, write counselor recommendations,review and provide
feedback on teacher letters of recommendation and work with
admissions officers to submit applications. Participate in
professional development opportunities related to role (e.g.
conferences) Support the Director(s) of College Counseling in other
duties as assigned Qualifications, skills and competencies 3-5
years previous experience in college counseling or academic
advising in a high school setting. A strong understanding of the
college admissions process, financial aid, and scholarship
opportunities is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal,
and organizational skills are required, along with a commitment to
fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity.
Commitment to prioritizing the student experience over a particular
outcome Works proactively to manage a caseload of students with
minimal need for management A collaborative decision-maker, who
prioritizes the team and ethical considerations above self. Act in
accordance with the mission statement of the College Counseling
Office and Scheck Hillel’s staff handbook. Preferred Additional
Qualifications Master's degree in counseling, education, or a
related field. Experience working in college admissions offices
Experience supporting students with applications to
universities/programs that require portfolio submissions Experience
